Ewelme Hills
Lubov is the Chairperson of Ewelme Hills, a picturesque, organic farm and vineyard located in the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty. With a commitment to organic and sustainable farming, Ewelme Hills boasts 20,000 vines, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Seyval Blanc grapes, spread over ten acres of south-facing slopes.
While Pinot Noir is the most widely grown grape in England, making up 33% of the total crop, the vast majority is used to make English sparkling wines, with only 10% of wine produced in England being red or rosé. Ewelme Hills is a pioneering force in this area and is committed to producing the first highly regarded English Pinot Noir, alongside sparkling wines – for which the vineyard’s chalk and flint soil are particularly well suited. Anticipated to release its first bottle of sparkling wine in 2025, Ewelme Hills aims to rival the quality of its overseas counterparts.
Going beyond wine production, the farm features pear and apple orchards for crafting pear cider and apple brandy, as well as over 20 beehives and polytunnels for growing a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Lubov’s passion for organic and sustainable farming is evident in every aspect of Ewelme Hills, with the farm and vineyard fertilised by locally sourced, recycled, organically certified fertiliser, as well as horse manure from the local stables. Similarly, the farm and vineyard only use organic pesticides, and refrain from cutting the grass at regular intervals to promote biodiversity and support the development of local wildlife. As the vineyard matures, Ewelme Hills also plans to harvest rainwater to maintain the vines.
With Lubov overseeing operations, Ewelme Hills demonstrates a dedication to responsible farming and the production of exceptional wines and artisanal products.
